It is a board game which is played by two players at a time. The equipment used are board, playing pieces and a dice. These playing pieces can be of either checkers, stones, chips, counters, men or pawns. These playing pieces are available in either black or white color. Each player has total of 15 playing pieces. The playing pieces are moved according to roll of dice. The purpose of this game is to remove all the checkers before the opponent. A player who removed the pieces first from the board is declared as a winner of the game. The origin of the game Backgammon has been traced back in 3000 B.C. The board of backgammon is made up of 24 triangles. The board is divided into four partitions. Each players have one home board and an outer board. There are many variations in this game which have been played in different areas accordingly. These different variations are played in ancient civilization like Egypt, Rome and Greece. The different variations of Backgammon game are:
1. Acey-deucey: In this type of Backgammon a player starts with no checkers on the board. In this game a player may also earn extra turn after a roll of doubles.

2. Hypergammon: In this type player has only three checkers on the board. In this version a player has to be act smartly as there are 32 million possible positions available.

3. Nackgammon: This game is invented by Nack Ballard. In this game player starts with few checkers on the six point and two checkers on 23 point.

4. Russian backgammon: In this type player also start with no checkers but in this game both players are moved in the same direction in a common board. In this type of variations doubles are more powerful.
